Vanessa’s Big Heart Foundations Mission:

The Foundation was established with three primary goals:

1.           Fund Research:  To help fund the cardiomyopathy genetics clinic established by Texas Children’s Hospital of Houston, Texas.  We are convinced that mapping and modeling of the genetic links to cardiomyopathy will lead to better diagnosis, treatment, and ultimately to a cure for this devastating condition.

2.         Camp Pump-It-Up:   Texas Children’s Hospitals Cardiology clinic sponsors pediatric cardiomyopathy patients to a weekend summer camp each April where they can enjoy some of the “normalcies” of childhood.  We feel it’s important to have a tangible goal that the Foundation Family can see and feel.  We have pledged to provide the transportation to and from camp so that the anticipated 150 kids signed up will all be able to attend in 2007.  With your help we’ll be able to continue this pledge for future years.  (Click here for pics of Camp Pump it Up 2006)

3.         Support: To support the Children’s Cardiomyopathy Foundation (CCF).  CCF’s primary goal is to provide seed funding for research into pediatric cardiomyopathy causes and cures; however, we found it to be the premier source for support and information in dealing with pediatric cardiomyopathy.  Currently there are more than 120 families registered with CCF, where they provide an unbelievable amount of information and support to help similar families cope.
